👨‍🔧 Queue Management

Manage technician workloads and track who's working on what with the device queue system.

How Queues Work

Each technician has a personal queue showing devices assigned to them. This creates:

  • Clear ownership of repairs
  • Visibility into workload
  • Accountability for progress
  • Performance tracking

My Queue

Accessing Your Queue

  1. Click My Queue in the sidebar
  2. View all devices assigned to you
  3. Sorted by priority and date

Queue Views

ViewShows
ActiveDevices currently in repair
AwaitingDevices waiting to start
CompletedRecently finished devices

Working from Your Queue

  1. Select a device from your queue
  2. Review the repair requirements
  3. Update status as you work
  4. Add notes and photos
  5. Mark complete when done

Assigning Devices

Single Assignment

  1. Open the device
  2. Click Assign To
  3. Select the technician
  4. Device appears in their queue

Bulk Assignment

  1. Go to Devices list
  2. Select multiple devices (checkboxes)
  3. Click Bulk ActionsAssign
  4. Select the technician
  5. Confirm

Auto-Assignment

Configure automatic assignment based on:

  • Location
  • Device type
  • Current workload

Contact support to configure auto-assignment rules.

Reassigning Devices

If a device needs to move to another technician:

  1. Open the device
  2. Click current assignee
  3. Select new technician
  4. Add note explaining reassignment

The device moves to the new technician's queue.

Queue Status Updates

Quick Status Update

From your queue, update device status without opening:

  1. Click the status badge on the device row
  2. Select new status
  3. Status updates immediately

Status Notes

When changing status, optionally add a note:

  • What was done
  • What's needed next
  • Any blockers

Priority Management

Setting Priority

Devices can be prioritized:

  • High - Rush repair, do first
  • Normal - Standard turnaround
  • Low - When time permits
  1. Open the device
  2. Set the Priority level
  3. Queue reorders based on priority

Priority Indicators

In the queue, priorities are shown:

  • 🔴 High priority
  • 🟡 Normal priority
  • 🟢 Low priority

Workload Visibility

Team View

Managers can see all queues:

  1. Go to DevicesAll Queues
  2. View devices by technician
  3. See count and status breakdown
  4. Identify bottlenecks

Workload Metrics

Dashboard shows:

  • Devices per technician
  • Average time per repair
  • Completion rates
  • Status distribution

Unassigned Devices

Devices without an assignee appear in the Unassigned queue:

  1. Go to DevicesUnassigned
  2. View devices needing assignment
  3. Assign to appropriate technician

Tips for Queue Management

For Technicians

  • ✅ Check your queue at start of day
  • ✅ Update status as you work
  • ✅ Add notes for complex repairs
  • ✅ Flag blockers immediately

For Managers

  • ✅ Monitor queue sizes regularly
  • ✅ Balance workloads across team
  • ✅ Review unassigned queue daily
  • ✅ Address bottlenecks quickly

Notifications

Get notified when:

  • New device assigned to you
  • Device reassigned from you
  • Priority changed on your device
  • Manager requests update
